Kegiatan yang digelar di Auditorium Gedung H.7 Udinus, Semarang, tersebut dihadiri oleh sekitar 150 peserta. Peserta terdiri dari mahasiswa aktif Program Studi Kesehatan Lingkungan, Kesehatan Masyarakat (khususnya peminatan K3), serta program studi terkait lainnya. Tidak hanya dari Udinus, beberapa peserta juga berasal dari luar universitas tersebut.

Kuliah umum ini dibuka oleh Ketua Program Studi Kesehatan Lingkungan, Dr. Slamet Isworo, M.Kes. Ia menjelaskan bahwa tema yang diusung adalah ‘Environmental Management in Coal-Fired Power Plant’.

“Tema ini dipilih karena PLTU merupakan penyumbang energi terbesar di Indonesia, namun juga memiliki potensi dampak lingkungan yang signifikan. Oleh karena itu, pemahaman mendalam tentang strategi pengelolaan limbah, emisi udara, air limbah, dan limbah B3 menjadi sangat relevan bagi mahasiswa kesehatan lingkungan,” ujarnya.

Slamet Isworo menambahkan bahwa dua pembicara ahli di bidangnya dihadirkan dalam acara tersebut, yaitu HSE Manager PT Bhumi Jepara Service (PLTU Tanjung Jati B 5 & 6), Sigit Kurniawan, S.T., M.T., serta Ahli AMDAL dan LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), asesor bersertifikat BNSP, dan ahli teknik lingkungan madya, Dr. Poerna Sri Oetari, M.Si.

“Beberapa materi yang disampaikan meliputi sistem kelistrikan nasional dan posisi PLTU, pengelolaan emisi udara (NOx, SO2, TSP), sistem Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEMS), pengelolaan air limbah (IPAL, FGD discharge, run-off coal yard), pengelolaan limbah B3 dan non-B3, serta penerapan standar lingkungan nasional dan internasional seperti PROPER, ISO 14001, dan IFC/World Bank,” jelasnya.

Menanggapi penyelenggaraan kuliah umum ini, Sigit Kurniawan menilai bahwa kegiatan ini merupakan kesempatan tepat untuk memperkenalkan standar dan praktik industri terkini terkait pengendalian limbah, emisi, dan sistem manajemen lingkungan.

“Melalui kegiatan ini, diharapkan mahasiswa dapat memahami secara langsung implementasi pengelolaan dampak lingkungan dalam industri nyata, sekaligus terinspirasi untuk menerapkan prinsip pembangunan berkelanjutan dan kesadaran terhadap pentingnya sistem pengendalian lingkungan di sektor energi,” pungkasnya. Sebanyak 31 mahasiswa yang tergabung dalam program tersebut diberangkatkan pada Periode Mei dan Juni. Sebelum keberangkatan, mereka mengikuti rangkaian kegiatan pelepasan dan berpamitan kepada Rektor Udinus, Prof. Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T., M.Kom., yang didampingi Dekan FIB Udinus, Dr. Bayu Aryanto, S.S., M.Hum., yang berlangsung di Meeting Room, gedung G lantai 1 Udinus Semarang.

Bayu Aryanto menjelaskan pada program kali ini, Udinus bekerja sama dengan 5 perusahaan di 2 negara. 4 perusahaan di Jepang dan 1 perusahaan di Malaysia. Nantinya, mahasiswa akan ditempatkan di bidang yang dibutuhkan dan relevan dengan kompetensi yang dimiliki.

“Perusahaan tempat kerja mahasiswa bergerak di bidang industri pelayanan. Seperti restoran, hotel, dan bandara. Terbaru, ada juga mahasiswa yang akan ditempatkan di perusahaan otomotif,” jelasnya.

Lebih lanjut, Bayu menerangkan bahwa mahasiswa yang mengikuti program magang atau volunteer internasional ini akan mendapatkan konversi SKS. Besaran yang dikonversi pun bervariasi, menyesuaikan seberapa lama durasi yang diambil oleh mahasiswa. 

“Udinus memberikan dukungan berupa rekognisi atau konversi SKS. Dengan jumlah 10 sampai 20 SKS per semester tergantung lamanya internship. Kalau internship setahun, berarti jumlah yang dikonversi adalah 20 SKS per semester, totalnya 40 SKS. Kalau volunteer, berkisar 10-15 SKS,” terangnya.

Dukungan Universitas

Program internship dan volunteer international kali ini tidak hanya terbuka untuk mahasiswa dari FIB, tetapi untuk seluruh fakultas. Terbaru, mahasiswa dari Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis (FEB) dan Fakultas Teknik (FT) juga berpartisipasi. Mereka diberikan pelatihan intensif untuk keterampilan Bahasa Jepang agar dapat memenuhi syarat yang telah ditentukan. Salah satunya, telah belajar Bahasa Jepang minimal selama 300 jam.

“Untuk mahasiswa yang akan berangkat ke Jepang, minimal berada di level N-4 untuk mahasiswa dari Sastra Jepang. Sedangkan  yang di luar prodi Sastra Jepang, cukup N-5 saja. FIB Udinus memberikan pelatihan intensif 2-3 kali selama seminggu untuk mahasiswa dapat memenuhi syarat yang ada. Ada dukungan berupa subsidi pelatihan juga dari pihak Jepang,” jabarnya.

Salah satu mahasiswa Program Sarjana Sastra Jepang yang akan melakukan internship di Sendai Miyagi, Eunike Santoso mengaku sangat mendapatkan dukungan yang besar dari universitas untuk mempersiapkan diri berkarier di Negeri Sakura itu. Baik dari segi pengetahuan umum, keterampilan berbahasa, hingga dukungan mental.

“Keahlian yang harus disiapkan dalam mengikuti program ini lebih ke keterampilan bahasa untuk percakapan dan kesiapan kerjanya. Puji Tuhan selama ini benar-benar mendapat dukungan dari Udinus. Saya akan melakukan internship di bidang perhotelan, dan relevan dengan passion saya. Harapannya, dapat memperluas pengalaman kerja dan nantinya bisa mendapatkan tokutei ginou atau visa pekerja di sana,” pungkasnya.

Dalam sambutannya, Rektor Udinus yang akrab disapa ‘Mas Rektor’ itu menyampaikan bahwa mitra industri dihadirkan sebagai bekal awal bagi para lulusan. Mitra industri dihadirkan sebagai momentum terjalinnya kerja sama dengan Udinus.  Kerja sama itu menjadi komitmen Udinus dalam mendukung lulusannya agar cepat terserap di dunia kerja. 

“Perlu kami sampaikan, menurut survei dari Career Center Udinus, 85% lulusan Udinus berhasil mendapatkan pekerjaan dalam waktu 1-3 bulan setelah mereka diwisuda. Data ini merupakan angka yang membanggakan–prestasi yang belum tentu dicapai oleh perguruan tinggi lain. Bahkan, di wisuda ke-84 ini, 13.71% wisudawan sudah diterima kerja sebelum mereka resmi di wisuda,” ungkapnya.

Dalam prosesi wisuda, sejumlah pimpinan mitra industri turut hadir dan mengikuti serangkaian kegiatan wisuda, di antaranya Direktur Indoweb.id dan Kabag SPI PDAM Kota Kediri. Pada kesempatan tersebut, keduanya memberikan apresiasi kepada Udinus yang telah menjadi mitra dan menyalurkan lulusannya untuk bekerja langsung di perusahaannya.

Pada momen sakral tersebut, Rektor juga menyampaikan ucapan selamat kepada seluruh wisudawan. Capaian itu bukanlah akhir, melainkan sebagai titik dimulainya lembaran hidup baru. Diharapkan wisudawan Udinus bisa memberikan manfaat nyata di masyarakat dan juga di dunia kerja.

Mas Rektor juga menyampaikan bahwa belum lama ini, 31 mahasiswa dikirim langsung ke Jepang untuk mengikuti program magang & volunteer. Ia menekankan bahwa program tersebut menjadi salah satu upaya Udinus dalam mengenalkan mahasiswanya untuk bisa berinteraksi langsung dengan mitra.

“Mahasiswa ini kami fasilitasi seperti memberikan pelatihan bahasa Jepang untuk memudahkan relasi mereka ketika berada di Jepang. Program magang yang sesuai dengan jurusan mahasiswa diharapkan bisa membuka peluang lebih lebar lagi untuk melanjutkan ke ranah profesional,” tegasnya.

Pentingnya Relasi di Dunia Kerja

Turut hadir dan mengucapkan selamat, Plt. Kepala LLDikti Wilayah VI, Prof. Dr. Harun Joko Prayitno, M.Hum., yang baru saja mengemban tugas barunya belum lama ini. Menurutnya, langkah Udinus dalam menghadirkan dunia industri sangat luar biasa dan harapannya bisa menjadi contoh untuk perguruan tinggi lain.

Prof. Harun juga memberikan pesan kepada wisudawan yang nantinya akan terjun ke dunia kerja, melalui tagline nya ‘His Mr. Udinus’. His, dalam taglinenya merujuk pada ‘Human Relation Is a key for Successful, di mana kunci kesuksesan seseorang akan bergantung pada cara mereka menempatkan diri di lingkungan kerja.

“Cara bergaul dan seni bergaul akan menentukan kesuksesan wisudawan di dunia kerja. Ilmu yang didapat dari Udinus saya yakin akan berguna saat terjun di dunia kerja, karena merupakan kampus yang terakreditasi Unggul,” pungkasnya.

With the theme of the 1st SEA-EU International Week, the program showcased effective practices in holding the BIP and international week. The program itself aimed to encourage collaborations, cultural exchanges, and domestic internationalization.

Lasting for five days in the Department of Professional Studies at the University of Split, Croatia, Udinus was among 50 universities that were present in the program. There were also representatives from international universities, such as Nord University, the University of Mostar, the University of Economics in Bratislava, Bialystok University of Technology, and many more. As for Udinus, the representatives were Dr. Catur Supriyanto, S.Kom., MCs., Cinantya Paramita, S.Kom., M.Eng., both of which are faculty members, and Meuthia Cita Sejati, S.S., a faculty member from the Partnership and International Affairs Agency (LKUI) at Udinus.

Dr. Ir. Dwi Eko Waluyo, the Head of the Partnership and International Affairs Agency (LKUI) at Udinus, mentioned that the program mainly discussed crucial aspects of internationalizing higher education. For five whole days, they discussed various aspects. On the first day, they learned how to design a mobility measuring framework, as well as its most crucial factors to be noted. On the second day, the participants were encouraged to work together within an intercultural and inclusive environment.

“On the third day, we were invited to explore cultural and social aspects, and it would be continued with the BIP practice and International Week, which showcased presentations from the host university and guest universities. Ultimately, it was concluded with a workshop entitled System Thinking , which mainly discusses complex issues,” he explained.

Moreover, Dwi Eko emphasized that Udinus’ participation in the program showed the campus's commitment to spreading its wings in the international community. This also serves as proof of Udinus’ existence in global collaborations.

“Hopefully, this participation can help Udinus in some ways in establishing a network in Europe, allowing students and the academic community from Udinus to conduct staff and student exchange programs,” he uttered.

Improving International Collaboration

Also present to moderate the entire event, Ana Ćosić, the Head of the International Relationship Division at the University of Split, explained that the BIP combined both online and offline learning to enhance the quality of international collaborations, as well as cross-disciplinary skill development. 

“During the program, participants, which in this case were representatives from international universities, were taught the implementation and procedures of BIP at the University of Split in Erasmus+ framework, applying BIP, guidelines in proposing BIP, executing, and evaluating the program. For that reason, participants are expected to garner experiences in international administration and social networks,” she highlighted

The Chief Executive of the Talk Show, Christina Prihatini, revealed that the theme of the show was ‘Smoke, Steam, and Boundaries: Analyzing the Impacts of the Tobacco Psychology and the Implementation of No-Smoking Zones.’ This theme describes two types of cigarettes, namely, conventional cigarettes and electric ones, which can impact the user’s psychology. 

“Participants were also taught about psychological factors that can serve as a trigger for one to start smoking. There was also a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to measure the participants’ understanding concerning the topic at hand, as well as to create an active discussion space,” Christina explained.

The talk show is a commitment made by the TFC to raise awareness that smoking does not only affect the smokers themselves. Instead, it also affects nearby people. The talk show itself took place in the Auditorium located on the sixth floor of the I building at Udinus, and ran enthusiastically, with many questions asked by the audience on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

“On the other hand, the urgency of no-smoking zones was taken as the topic of the talk show to emphasize collective protection to form public health and comfort, especially for youths. In this case, we target our campus to be healthier and safer,” she continued.

The event, which was attended by 73 people, started with presentations and Q&A sessions from two different speakers, namely, Dr. dr. Anung Sugihantono, M.Kes.—the Chief of the Health Educator and Promotor Association of Central Java, who discussed No-Smoking Zones and their implementations on campus, as well as Damar Anggiafitri, M.Psi., a psychologist from Udinus, who discussed tobaccos from a psychology perspective.

On a different occasion, Dr. dr. Anung welcomed the event with open arms. According to him, this event was an excellent step in educating the young generation, pushing them to actively create a safe space for smoking.

The handover of the scholarships took place on May 23, 2025, when the rector went on an outing in Kediri. “With our sincerest joy and honor, the academic community at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro shall congratulate Vinanda Prameswati, S.H., M.Kn., as the New Mayor of Kediri. Hopefully, under her new administration, Kediri City shall flourish into a better, more competitive, and inclusive city,” uttered Pulung during his speech at the mayor’s official residence, at Jl. Basuki Rahmat No. 15, Kediri City.

On that occasion, the Rector of Udinus was accompanied by the Head of the Dian Nuswantoro Foundation—Lakshiputri Arnindita, S.Sos., M.M., the Vice Rector of Academic Affairs at Udinus—Dr. Abdul Syukur, M.M., and the Chief of Public Relations and Protocols at Udinus, Nining Sekar. 

During the visit, the rector stated that the partnership between Udinus and the Kediri City government had run since 2021. As a higher education institution with Excellent accreditation and international recognition, Udinus is committed to developing human resources and science advancements, and this commitment is embodied by synergizing with the Kediri City Government. These commitments concern education, research, community programs, and innovations.

“Similar to the previous years, we gave 25 full scholarships to the Kediri City Government to support the advancement of education in Kediri City. We hereby let the government manage how the scholarships will be distributed, and the selection will be conducted in August 2025,” Pulung emphasized. 

Annually, since 2021, Udinus has given 25 scholarships to the Kediri City Government, with the scholarships entitled ‘The Future Scholarship.’ More than 100 scholarships have been handed to the city government to improve the education sector in Kediri City.

The New Mayor of Kediri, Vinanda, warmly welcomed the rector and his companions. The mayor herself was also accompanied by the Head of the Local Planning Department (Bappeda), Chevy Ning Suyudi, S.T. With a familial atmosphere, Vinanda expressed her appreciation to the Rector of Udinus. “We proudly receive the concrete actions and consistency from Udinus in nurturing and improving education in Kediri City. “My mother taught me English through bedtime stories. Then, when I was old enough for school, I got in touch with books in libraries, films on TV, and songs on the internet,” said Retno, who is a student of the Faculty of Humanities (FIB).

During her high school years, Eno, who was born in 2002 in Tanjungpinang, became more determined to explore this field. To her, English is an interesting field of study, not only for its rich literary potential but also for linguistics. For that reason, Eno became eager to study in the Department of English at Udinus. 

Eno’s language skills led her to a wide range of opportunities. Many times, she is trusted to be a Master of Ceremonies (MC) in various events, both within the English department and the campus.

“I have been asked to be an MC in many events requiring English speakers, with the example being a welcome party for foreign volunteers and a signing of MoUs between Udinus and international universities,” she explained.

The Importance of Language Skills 

Her experience led Eno to realize that language skills are crucial in the modern era. However, this does not mean one should not uphold their native language. Instead, it is a way for one to open a wide opportunity in the international community.

“There are many opportunities on campus, like internships, volunteer programs, and international jobs. This brings many benefits, pushing students to their new limits, especially when it comes to English skills,” she revealed.

Eno, who happens to be the Chief of the English Students Association at Udinus, revealed several tips for learning English. According to her, listening to music and watching movies are her trump cards in learning English.

In practice, everyone’s preference in learning English is relative. For me personally, I find reading lyrics and dialogs to be effective, as I can see sentence patterns. Not only will this allow me to translate texts, but by doing this, I can also learn aspects, like speaking , listening, and grammar ,” she uttered.

Retno, who was fond of listening to music and exploring cuisines, also highlighted the importance of being wrong. Mistakes are indeed seeds of knowledge, a foundation in a learning process.

The opening was marked by the promises between referees and 225 athletes from 35 cities or regencies in Central Java. The procession was witnessed by the Vice Rector of Student Affairs at Udinus—Prof. Dr. Dra. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., an Executive from the Youth, Sports, and Tourism Service—Syurya Deta Syafrie, S.T., M.T., and the Chief Executive of the Event, Sabeumnin Budi Setyono.

On that occasion, General Brigadier Zainul Bahar, S.H., M.Si., the General Secretary of Central Java Taekwondo Sports Branch, was also present to deliver an opening speech. The entire event started with the sound of taiko on May 23, 2025.

During her speech, Prof. Kusni stated that it wasn’t Udinus’ first time hosting a taekwondo event. This proves that Udinus contributes to the emergence of young taekwondo athletes in Central Java. She hoped that the athletes could eventually represent their cities or regencies on the national level.

“In this month of May, Popda Taekwondo is participated in by junior high and elementary students. This means that Udinus will also host another Popda Taekwondo in July for high school students. We are also open to inviting young athletes to join us, as Udinus is committed to supporting athletes who want to continue their studies,” she emphasized.

Meanwhile, Syurya Deta Syafrie, S.T., M.T., reported that the Regional Student Sports Week (Popda) was an event held by the Youth, Sports, and Tourism Service (Disporapar). This competition aligns with the vision and mission of the Central Java Governor in “ngopeni” (lit. nurturing in Javanese) and “ngelakoni” (lit. doing or conducting in Javanese).

“The government even nurtures these athletes. The existence of this event proves it. Hopefully, these athletes will be under our radar to be further trained so they earn gold medals for both Central Java and Indonesia,” he uttered.

As additional information, Popda lasted from May 23 to 24, 2025, with it also serving as a way to select athletes to compete in the upcoming National Student Sports Week (Popnas). This specific event will be held by the Indonesian Taekwondo Federation.

General Brigadier Zainul Bahar hoped for the support of these taekwondo athletes to cause even more talented taekwondo athletes to emerge. According to him, taekwondo was among the few sports that had grown popular in public.

“Our main target is to earn as many gold medals as possible in various sports branches, including taekwondo. We hereby express our gratitude to Udinus for hosting this event and facilitating this year’s Popda Taekwondo,” he concluded.

The event was held on May 23, 2025, with 64 creative works being showcased. In total, there were 26 texts in the form of articles, short stories, and poems. Additionally, fourteen works of design, sixteen photos, and eight videos. 

The Chief Executive of the 2025 Wartafest, Anisa Cardina, revealed that these creative works had attracted hundreds of students, as seen in how crowded the exhibition was. These works were not only authored by members of the campus press but also by other students as well. 

“This event is expected to provide equal opportunities for students to showcase their works. In addition to the exhibition, we also screened a short movie by the Campus Press Wartadinus,” she uttered.

Moreover, the short movie’s genre was a slice of life. It hails with a story revolving around real-life issues, namely, a person who does not feel good enough compared to their friends. 

“It tells the story of a person who discovered their new passion by participating in a writing competition. Other than a movie screening, we also held a talk show and a film analysis with faculty members and the director short movie,” she explained. 

The short movie was made within the span of three months, led by Ilham Adiyaksa as the Director. At the talk show, the film itself was analyzed by Teguh Hartono Patriano, M.A., a faculty member from the Film and Television Department at Udinus.

Motivations for Students to Explore

During the talk show, Teguh expressed his appreciation for the short film produced by the campus press. According to him, this was a transformative step from Wartadinus to spread its influence by exploring other media, without abandoning their core essence as a journalistic organization. 

Not only the short film, but Teguh also appreciated Wartafest as a whole. Moreover, the inclusion of the F building as a new working space also fascinated Teguh. This newly-established building is expected to motivate other students to explore their passions.

Dihadiri oleh Rektor Udinus, Prof. Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T., M.Kom., bersama Kepala Kerja Sama Urusan International Udinus, Dr. Ir. Dwi Eko Waluto, M.M., serta seluruh Dekan Fakultas di Udinus. Sementara itu, dari pihak Prefektur Yamaguchi dihadiri langsung oleh Ketua Asosiasi Penerima Tenaga Kerja Asing, Kazuo Nishiyama bersama rekan-rekan timnya.

Mewakili civitas academica Udinus, Dekan Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Udinus, Dr. Bayu Aryanto, S.S., M.Hum., menjelaskan bahwa kerja sama akan berlangsung dalam durasi kurang lebih selama 5 tahun ke depan. Periode dimulainya kerja sama, dimulai pada tahun 2025.

“Dalam kerja sama ini, nantinya mahasiswa Udinus bisa melakukan kegiatan magang internasional di berbagai bidang sesuai kompetensi dan kebutuhan perusahaan. Selain magang, akan dilakukan pula program pertukaran mahasiswa dengan kampus yang ada di Prefektur Yamaguchi,” jelasnya.

Lebih lanjut, Dr. Bayu mengungkapkan bahwa kerja sama tersebut tidak hanya berlaku untuk mahasiswa Program Studi Sarjana Jepang. Namun, juga terbuka untuk mahasiswa di seluruh program studi yang ada di Indonesia.

“Akan tetapi syarat utamanya mahasiswa diwajibkan mampu berbahasa Jepang di level 4. Selain untuk mahasiswa, kerja sama ini juga memberikan peluang untuk alumni Udinus bekerja di Jepang, terutama di Yamaguchi Prefecture,” lanjutnya.

Ketua Asosiasi Penerima Tenaga Kerja Asing di Prefektur Yamaguchi, Kazuo Nishiyama juga menyambut baik kolaborasi dengan Udinus. Melalui kerja sama tersebut, pihaknya berharap dapat memberi kesempatan yang sama bagi semua mahasiswa Udinus untuk mendapatkan pengalaman internasional di Jepang. Baik itu dari magang, maupun pertukaran pelajar.
